Bernard Chapple has over 20 years of experience in every facet of computer and network operations in Data Center Operations Management. He has worked on various system platforms such as the IBM Mainframe, AS/400 (iSeries), HP3000, UNIX and Windows NT / XP and 2000/3 Servers. For eighteen years of his career he has had a special emphasis in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, which includes a heavy emphasis on Technical and Business Recovery and Mitigation. Bernard also had responsibility for platform Security, and maintaining network integrity, and network recoveries. He has worked at such notable firms as US Trust Co. NY, Provident National Bank, Philadelphia, Merrill Lynch NY, Bombardier Capital Inc. employed him in Jacksonville FL, as Data Center Operations Manager, and he was the Disaster Recovery Planner at JM Family Enterprise Inc. the parent company of Southeast Toyota in Jacksonville Florida. Currently Bernard is the Director of Information Technology and Telecommunications for Edward Waters College in Jacksonville.
Bernard's technical education has taken him through extensive training at Florida A&M University, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Institute for Business Continuity Training and The Disaster Recovery Institute. Bernard is a member of the Business Sustainability sub-committee of Duval Prepares, nationally known as Project Impact; he is the former Vice President of the Northeast Florida Chapter Association of Contingency Planners, and he was a member of the faculty of the International Disaster Recovery Association. Bernard is a subject matter expert and nation wide speaker on Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Information Security. He is an Author and sat on the Editorial Advisory Board for Contingency Planning & Management Magazine which has an international circulation. He is co-author of the book “Information Security – The Complete Reference Guide” released in November 2003 by McGraw-Hill Publishing.
Bernard has received 2 Presidential and a Special Achievement award at Merrill Lynch for his implementation of critical product software, and setup of the data center in Jacksonville, Florida. He received the President’s award at Bombardier Capital for the successful installation of the SAP application into the organization. Bernard also received the Spirit of JM Family award from Pat Moran, the President & Chairperson of the Board of JM Family Enterprises. This award was for his contribution to the local community. He is currently the CIO & Director of Information Technology & Telecommunications at Edward Waters College the oldest Historically Black College in the Great State of Florida. Bernard is a member of The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville. He has also worked on other various community projects with the YMCA’s Young Black Achiever organization, the Jacksonville NAACP, and The Jacksonville Urban League. <Top of page>
