Mrs. Geraldine Orr
Geraldine Orr, an alumnus of Edward Waters College, class of '56, and Bethune-Cookman University, class of '58, has spent more than four decades selflessly serving the Northeast Florida community. A great event planner, fundraiser, manager, organizer, and volunteer, Mrs. Orr has lent her extraordinary skills to a number of organizations: EWC's Business and Finance Department and Office of the President, the 11th Episcopal AME District Office, former State Senator Betty Holzendorf's Office, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the EWC National Alumni Association, Inc., to name a few.
While she has generously donated her time, talent, and treasure to numerous causes, Mrs. Orr's focus has been two-fold: promoting higher education and youth development. She has mentored hundreds of EWC students, providing encouragement, clothing, food, and access to other resources. In fact, many of her former mentees state that Mrs. Orr is the sole reason they were able to finish college. Over the years, she even shared her home with 8 EWC students who were in need of housing.
A 50-plus year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Mrs. Orr was the long-time chair of the organization's Delta Teen Pageant and Father's Day Gala, and provided countless youth with exposure to the arts, talent development and more. She has also been a tireless fundraiser, chairing several highly successful capital campaigns for college scholarships and youth enrichment programs. Mrs. Orr most recently chaired the EWC Alumni Association, Inc.'s 2009 National Convention.
She is married to Robert Orr, and is the proud mother of three and grandmother of five.
