Eric Johnson is the Director of the After School Division of Communities In School of Jacksonville, Inc. He is also the founder and senior administrator of the EWC Round Up, a social networking site for Edward Waters College alumni.
Johnson joined Communities In Schools of Jacksonville in 1998. The After School division serves more than 3,000 elementary and middle school children. During this time he has secured funding of four million dollars for more than seven years to operate new programs as well as sustain after-school programs. He has reached out to his alma mater during this time, hiring EWC students for both full and part time positions.
Prior to joining Communities In Schools of Jacksonville Johnson worked for WJXT-TV4, Humana, American Express, Edward Waters College (Director of Recruitment and Admissions), YMCA of Florida First Coast, and Jacksonville University Upward Bound Program.
In 2008 Johnson created and launched EWC Round Up (www.ewcroundup.com), a social networking site for EWC alumni. Two years later the site has more than 1,000 members. The site has sponsored and organized Old School Weekend, which brought together more than 700 alumni for a reunion in 2009. For his work in bringing together alumni Johnson received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the National Alumni Association.
Johnson is a member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Johnson graduated cum laude from Edward Waters College in 1988 with a B.A. in Mass Communications.
