Roger D. Sears
Roger D. Sears graduated from Edward Waters College in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and now he is the owner and lead funeral director of the Roger D. Sears Funeral Directors in Jacksonville, FL.
Roger was educated in the public schools of Ft. Pierce, Florida. Following the death of his father and mentor, his family moved to Jacksonville. Roger continued his education in the Duval County School System and graduated from William Marion Raines Sr. High School in 1978.
Roger’s pursuit of excellence did not stop after he graduated from Edward Waters. He excelled at the graduate level, obtaining a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Florida. Roger later received an Associate of Arts degree in Funeral Services from Florida Community College of Jacksonville (Now Florida State College of Jacksonville).
His professional experience includes the Director of Music and Worship Arts at his church of membership, Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church; member of the national faculty for the Gospel Music Workshop of America; member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; retired Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities at Edward Waters College; and former director of the boys choir for the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville.
Roger is happily married to another EWC graduate, Sherri M. Sears, the managing partner of Roger D. Sears Funeral Directors. This devoted husband is also the proud father of two children.
