Women's Basketball Head Coach - Charmaine Wilson


Coach Charmaine WilsonCharmaine Wilson was introduced as the new Edward Waters College Women’s Basketball Head Coach on July 15, 2011. Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role at Edward Waters, and she has been charged with bringing an exciting and fast-paced style of basketball to the women’s program at EWC.

Wilson comes to Edward Waters after spending six seasons as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman University. While at B-CU, she was instrumental in the rebuilding of the Lady Wildcats basketball program which saw vast improvement during each of her seasons in Daytona Beach. In her role as the first assistant under current B-CU Head Coach Vanessa Blair, Wilson assisted in the recruiting of student-athletes.

Prior to her tenure at B-CU, Wilson spent five seasons at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. Wilson was an assistant coach with the Lady Yellow Jackets from 1999-2001, and in 2001 she was named the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program at Allen. During the 2001 season, Wilson made history, becoming the first Allen University basketball coach, men or women to win a tournament game in the Eastern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament.

A native of Hemingway, South Carolina, Wilson is a 1998 graduate of South Carolina State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. Also while at SCSU, Wilson was a three year letter winner for the Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team, earning such awards as Best Hustle & Most Improved. Wilson was also the Lady Bulldogs team captain for all three of her years.

Coach Wilson makes her residence in Jacksonville.
