EWC Reinstates Men's Golf Program and Signs 2012-2013 Team
July 11, 2012
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Edward Waters College announced the reinstatement of its men’s golf team along with the signing of four student athletes who will make up the team at a press conference Wednesday.
The men's golf program was formed in 2000, but was postponed in 2010. Since its creation, the program has produced three All-Conference players (Sam Aiden, 2004-2007; Cobie Lunsford, 2007-2010; and Alex Moscinski, 2007-2010), and won the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship in 2009.
The 2012-2013 team consists of Kevin Parker from Winter Park High School (Orlando), Mitra Lutchman from Ocoee High School (Ocoee), Joshua Bowman from Maynard Evans High School (Orlando), and Alvin Vicioso from Lake Brantley High School (Orlando). All four were members at the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association under the direction of Dr. Thomas J. Dorsey.
With the reinstatement of men’s golf, EWC now has 11 intercollegiate sports that compete in Division I of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
"We are excited to have such stellar young men as part of EWC's golf program," said Johnny Rembert, EWC athletic director. "These gentlemen are truly exceptional, on and off the course, and we are anticipating great things from our golf program in the next few years."
