EWC Celebrates A Night of Lights

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Edward Waters College shared its annual Night of Lights event Wednesday, Dec. 5, with nearly 300 children from the community and 100 EWC students, faculty and staff.

The children, whose ages spanned from elementary to middle-school, cheerfully rushed into the Student Union Building around 4:30 p.m. to see Santa, make arts and crafts with the EWC Student Government Association, and listen to traditional Christmas stories told by Mrs. Claus, such as “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

At sunset, all the children, students, volunteers and other EWC supporters went outside to Centennial Lawn to participate in the countdown for the lighting of the EWC Christmas tree. After the 10-second countdown, President Glover enthusiastically flipped the switch to illuminate the tree with thousands of lights.

The event also featured the renowned EWC Concert Choir, and included a presentation of a $4,000 donation to the College from Mr. Joe Caldwell and Mr. Sollie Mitchell of the United Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites of Freemasonry Florida Council of Deliberation.
