Dr. James B. Ewers, Jr., Becomes the Featured Writer for Black College Today Magazine
Jacksonville, Fla. – Edward Waters College is pleased to congratulate Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Dr. James B. Ewers, Jr., for being selected as the featured writer for the student-targeted nationally circulated Black College Today magazine.

BCT magazine initially published Ewers in its July/August issue, but has since picked up his writings permanently due to the depth and value they bring to the readership.
“Dr. Ewers contributes a wealth of knowledge and shares a perspective of the HBCU experience that helps give our readers the confidence in knowing that they have made the right choice in getting not only a good education, but he also gives them a reassurance in letting them know it’s OK to maintain a cultural balance that sustains their self-esteem going forward in their adult life,” said Steve Mootry, publisher of BCT magazine. Many of Ewers’ writings reflect on his experience in higher education as it relates to the ever-changing climate of the college environment across the country. His most recent writing titled, “Colleges Provide Students with Excellent Leadership Training,” which can be found in the Nov/Dec issue, focuses on students developing leadership skills while in college. Other credits include The Federal Credit Union and the NASPA Forum. He is also the author of, “Perspectives from Where I Sit”: Essays on Education, Parenting and Teen Issues.”
“Dr. Ewers speaks from the heart about the challenges and victories that can be expected in trying to obtain an undergraduate degree,” Mootry stated. “He not only relates, but debates the issues of college life.”
