Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed comprehensive health reform, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, into law. These laws and changes focus on provisions to expand coverage, control health care costs, and improve health care delivery system.  It requires U.S. citizens and legal residents to have qualifying health coverage. Those without coverage pay a tax penalty.   Although the College does not provide student health insurance, the Schell-Sweet Center has a representative to assist with affordable health care during registration periods.
