Careers for Communications Majors
Communications is recognized as an extraordinarily diverse and flexible field of study. A Communications degree can support careers in everything from advertising to the arts. Media and Communications jobs are projected to grow 4 percent from 2018 to 2028. This projected growth is about as fast as the average for all occupations and will lead to approximately 27,600 new jobs. The median annual wage for media and communication occupations was $57,530 in May 2018, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $38,640. Demand for media and communications jobs is expected to be based in the need to create, edit, translate, and disseminate information through a variety of different platforms. Department Highlights
The students in the Communications Department have found new and inventive ways of learning their craft by serving Edwards Waters College in a media capacity. Students have engaged in various public relations, journalism, theater, video, film, photography, and advertising projects.
Our students write and produce radio and television and have the opportunity to be on the air via the WEWC radio station. EWC’s Communications program is distinctive because it offers hands-on experience taught by faculty who have industry experience. Communications students will also be able to cover community and campus events.
