The Charles H. Pearce Institute is a five-week academic enrichment program designed to give students a “jumpstart” on their freshman year at Edward Waters College.  The program is mandatory for our incoming Tigers who did not meet EWC’s acceptance qualifications but who have the potential to succeed at EWC. The summer residential program is designed to maximize the propensity of our provisionally admitted students for both academic and personal success at the College.

Classes consist of the following nine credit hours:

  • ENC 1101 – English Composition I (3 Credits)
  • MAC 1105 – College Algebra (3 Credits)
  • SLS 1103 – Introduction to College

Program Benefits:

During the summer program, participants will benefit from the following services:

  • Early assessment
  • Mentoring and academic advisement
  • Social, spiritual and cultural experiences

Students considered for participation in the Charles H. Pearce Institute must meet the following requirements:

  • Be admitted to Edward Waters College as a provisional student
  • Completed the 2020-2021 FAFSA
  • Be available to attend the Program for the entire summer session
  • Plan to continue enrollment at Edward Waters College

Successful completion of the Pearce Institute grants student regular admission to the College.
