CHARLES H. PEARCE INSTITUTE

The Charles H. Pearce Institute is a five-week academic enrichment program designed to give students a “jumpstart” on their freshman year at Edward Waters University.  The program is mandatory for our incoming Tigers who did not meet EWU’s acceptance qualifications but who have the potential to succeed at EWU. The summer residential program is designed to maximize the propensity of our provisionally admitted students for both academic and personal success at the University.

Classes consist of the following nine credit hours:

  • ENC 1101 – English Composition I (3 Credits)
  • MAC 1105 – College Algebra (3 Credits)
  • SLS 1103 – Introduction to College

Program Benefits:

During the summer program, participants will benefit from the following services:

  • Early assessment
  • Mentoring and academic advisement
  • Social, spiritual and cultural experiences

Eligibility:

Students considered for participation in the Charles H. Pearce Institute must meet the following requirements:

  • Be admitted to Edward Waters University as a provisional student
  • Completed the 2020-2021 FAFSA
  • Be available to attend the Program for the entire summer session
  • Plan to continue enrollment at Edward Waters University

Successful completion of the Pearce Institute grants student regular admission to the University.
